The interview led me to seek out more Sanders writings. He was one of my best teachers at Indiana University in the 90's, but I confess I haven't really kept up with him or his work.
One thing I am reminded of frequently, however, is something he said to us one day in class: "Every time you buy something, you're voting." I often think of this phrase when I hear the cash register ring.
Anyway, tonight I discovered his essay, "Defending Our Common Wealth," online. Pointing you in the direction of this essay is the reason for this somewhat vague post. So I hope you'll forgive me for not disclosing more. His words speak for themselves.
